AAWORD
is a Pan-African no-govermental organization based in Dakar. It is structured as follows:General Assembly, Executive Committe and Secretariat. AAWORD undertakes and supports research, training publication, and advocacy activities. From a small group of African women who founded the Association in 1977, membership has grown steadily with the joining of young members. In additional to its national partners in Africa, AAWORD now has repesentation in Europe and the Americas.
ABANTU for Development
is a non-governmental development organisation founded in 1991 by African women for the purpose of harnessing resources to benefit of African people.

African Gender Institute (AGI)
was established in 1996 at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, following a consultative process involving stakeholders in many parts of Africa. The AGI's Mission is to further gender equity in Africa by contributing towards transformation of inequitable institutions and social practices which constrain women's leadership potential and the furtherance of gender equity goals in Africa.
Akina Mama wa Afrika
has UK/Europe programs and Africa programs, and the head office of the organisation is based in London, UK, while the Africa regional office is in Kampala, Uganda. AMwA’s work is carried out through advocacy, research, provision of information, networking and training.
Beijing Secretariat - South Africa
The NGO Secretariat for Beijing is working with civil society and government in South Africa to prepare the country for its first official participation in the UN World Conference on Women. The Secretariat and participating organizations, educate the public on the critical issues of the Beijing Conference. The Secretariat also sits on the National Preparatory Committee, the government body preparing for the conference.
Famafrique
The goal of Famafrique is to allow women organisations from Francophone Africa to participate in the mid-term review process of Dakar Platform for Action (fifth African Regional Conferennce on Women, November 1994) and Beijing Platform for Action (Fourth World Conference on Women, September 1995).
Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE)
FAWE's work is an explicit effort to close the gender gap in education at all levels.
FEMNET
monitors activities geared towards raising the status of African women especially in the implementation of the Nairobi Forward Looking Strategies, the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women, and the African and Global Platforms for Action.
GAIN: Gender in Africa Information Network
aims to facilitate communication, discussion and information sharing between organisations and people interested in gender and women's issues in Africa. As a network, GAIN is committed to making indigenous information on women and gender valued, visible and accessible globally and participate in the global information society in order to promote gender justice and women's rights in Africa.
ISIS-WICCE
Isis-Women's International Cross Culture Exchange is an action oriented women's resource centre which was started in 1974 in Geneva, Switzerland. It relocated to Kampala, Uganda at the end of 1993 to try and tap information concerning African women and make it more accessible and available to women world wide.
Sixth African Regional Conference on Women
The month of November 1999 will mark five years since the adoption of the African Platform for Action for the Advancement of Women. On this occasion, the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) will host the Sixth African Regional Conference on Women in Addis Ababa from 22 to 27 November, 1999. The central focus of the Conference will be the assessment of the implementation of the Dakar and Beijing Platforms for Action, in preparation for the June 2000 Global Mid-Term Review.

Asian Pacific Women's Information Network Center (APWINC)
Established in November 1996, APWINC aims at promoting the information-technologies for women and women-related communication technologies in South Korea, North Korea and the Asia-Pacific region in general. APWINC is in charge of the UNESCO Chair project on communication technology for women. APWINC is in the process of constructing comprehensive cyber-information service systems for Asia-Pacific region.

International Women's Tribune Centre (IWTC)
The International Women's Tribune Centre (IWTC) is an international non-governmental organization set up in response to demands for information and resources from many of the more than 8,000 women who participated in the United Nations International Women's Year (IWY) World Conference and the non-governmental IWY Tribune in Mexico City, 1975. For the last 20 years, IWTC has played an important role as a major information, education, communication, networking, technical assistance and training resource for women worldwide. Today, IWTC continues as a networking and information clearinghouse for some 25,000 women and women's groups in Africa, Asia/Pacific, Latin America/Caribbean and the Middle East.
